Day 1 of Championships

Today was the first day of the Championships, and every single canoeist was extremely nervous, especially the sec 2's, who had the responsibility of bringing the C div' title back to SJI.

At 7am, we assembled in LT1 to have a short briefing and mental prep. After that did a school cheer, then headed to Macritchie on a bus. It was an eventful day for all of us, the C and B division. First event for the sec 2's was K1 1000m, which Timothy Lim took part in. Though he did not qualify, we are all still proud of him, because we knew he tried his best. Next, it was Joshua and my event, K2 1000m. We lost to TMS by just a bit, and got second, so we qualified for the finals. Peter's race was the next C div race, and and got 1st, so he definitely qualified for finals! Benjamin and Reuven was the last C div race for that day, K2 1000m heat 2, but though they did not qualify for finals, we are all proud of them too, cause they are only sec 1's and they are actually competing with sec 2's from other schools. The seniors also did a very good job, with all of their boats reaching at least the semi's.

It truly was an eventful day today, and though we had some of our loses, we also made it up with some victories. Though not all of us made it through so far, don't let it deter any of us, because those who did not win, you will now be the support of the whole team, and you know we can't do without you. As for those who made it, don't be too complacent, don't be too nervous, because we are strong, and we can do Mr Teo, Mr Lim, Mr Fong, Jiao Lian, and SJI proud by winning the C div title. We can do it guys, only three more days to make our mark, we must "ping"!
