Last Saturday and Sunday, many canoeists competed in the National Junior Canoeing Championship which was held at good old Macricthie Reservoir. To our dismay, we were thrashed by the opponents, who had won almost all of us without much effort. None of the sec 3s managed to even get into the finals of their event. Have we deproved? Or have our competitors just improved so much? A major setback for most of us, the NJCC has revealed our many weaknessess.
However, there is always a bright side of life. True, the NJCC has shown how weak we are as compared to the other competitors. But this doesn't mean we cannot push ourselves to improve. Nobody's perfect, but we can strive to do the best that we can. It may not meet our expectations, but as long as we have put in our utmost effort, I'm sure that we can still do the SJI canoeing team proud. The B Div title may not be an easy goal to reach, but we will earn it, for our coach, for teachers, for the school, and for our team. If we don't get it this year, we will the next. We cannot simply give up now, not after the effort we put in and the things we achieved together.
We can do it, as a team.
