A Day At Home Team NS Real Run

AH! It felt good after returning from our CIP activity held at changi. Most people probably heard of this event: NS Real Run. Most have also taken part. Many SJI canoeists were also there to take part, only we were the marshalls. Yes, we were the marshalls. We did not run under the scorching hot sun, we only stood by the path and ushered the marathon runners along. That was our duty. But enough about what we were supposed to do, lets get to the interesting part. The sec 1 canoeists who took part in this activity was, David, Benjamin, Faiz, Shaun, Yang Zhi, Jun Heng, Peter, Gabriel, and...ok I forgot, please add on if I missed out anyone. We were to arrive in school at about 7.30pm the previous night, to get a briefing and take our buses to Changi Exebition Centre.
Skipping from the boring briefing to the slightly more interesting bus trip, most of us were pretty restless in the bus. Well...mostly. Some of us decided to play with our electronic devices, which we coincidently brought along, AHEM, Benjamin and Shaun, and some of us rather slept for that gruesomely long trip. Believe me, if you had nothing to do on that bus, 20mins would be really long for you. As we arrived at the exebition centre, we were shocked to find out that we were supposed to sleep in a crowded room, considering there were 260 more SJI students in the same room. Well, look on the bright side, we got supper, and we got tis really cool bag with goodies inside of freeeee! Most of us could barely sleep with all the noice produced by the others.
Bare with me if my story is getting too long. Anyway, the next morning, we got up at 5am and many of us were partially unconcious after the previous night, only getting some shut-eye after 1am. But the real event sure woke us up! We were assighned our positions along the running track, and our role was simple, we were to show the runners the way, give them a rough gauge on how long left they had to run, and if it was needed, cheer them on. We were paired up and placed at different points, I was placed with Benjamin, the all so cheerful one. We had to wait pretty long before the marathon actually, so I had some time taking several photos of what Benjamin and I saw and did. We were all tired after cheering the runners on, even though we hardly got a reaction. The whole day was worth it. We did get 16 hours of CIP. Looking back, I think that it was not that bad.
